A light plane carrying tourists on Saturday crashed and got severely damaged in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The plane is said to have veered off the runway during landing at the Mweya Airfield in the park, before crashing head-first into one of the staff quarters.
A total of five passengers were on board. Mt Anthony Njoroge, the Bar Aviation country manager, however, confirmed that all five escaped unhurt. He said the accident happened in the afternoon at 1:15 pm.
“All passengers and crew are safe. There are no casualties,” Njoroge said.
“Flight Operations continue normally as the investigating body and Aviation Authority continue to investigate the cause. The report and way forward will be communicated in due course.”
