At least two people were yesterday killed in a big house fire, whose cause is being investigated by Police. A woman identified as Linda Patricia is reported to have died in the inferno along with a yet to be identified man.
According to friends, Patricia had been invited to the home of her close friend only identified as Keitesi in Kawempe on Friday evening. There, Patricia found a man who according to the friends, had expressed romantic interest in her.
Shortly afterwards, Keitesi — who is now in police custody–, reportedly got up and left the house, locking the door behind her. “Immediately after she left there was an explosion and the two died in the fire,” a friend said.
It was yet to be established what started the fire, with unconfirmed reports indicating a gas can explosion while others claimed there was a fuel jerry can in the house.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Luke Owoyesigire promised to provide further information on the matter.
