Big Talent boss Eddy Kenzo has urged critics that are not impressed by his Born in Africa rendition to listen to Philly Bongole Lutaaya’s original version. Earlier today, Eddy Kenzo was given a heroic welcome into the country after taking part in the concluded Grammys Awards.
While addressing the media, Eddy Kenzo got into several topics, including the critics who suggested that his rendition of the late Philly Bongole Lutaaya’s “Born in Africa” song, was half-baked and didn’t meet their expectations.
Kenzo revealed that he redid the song to push it beyond borders, rather than gain fame because he is already famous, and he has songs that have amassed millions of views, in contrast to Philly Lutaaya’s song, which has received one million views over the years.
He emphasized further that because they were two different performers, he couldn’t sing the song to Philly Lutaaya’s level of excellence.
The self-described young Mandella continued by saying that he changed the song’s several elements, to better meet the desires of the younger generation.
He advised those who were not impressed by his rendition, to make use of Philly Lutaaya’s version because it still exists on several streaming platforms.
In the same interview, Eddy Kenzo said that rather of receiving criticism, he would be praised for elevating the late Philly’s legacy, his family, and Uganda to greater heights.
Among the artists that redid that song who has ever performed it on a bigger stage than mine? I performed it in Puerto Rico, and I will perform it in Senegal, Ghana, and America
