Don’t Wait For Connections, Go Knock On Those Doors – Faridah Nakazibwe To New Graduates

Media personality and news anchor Faridah Nakazibwe, has advised new graduates to go and knock on job doors than wait for opportunities. In Africa, especially in Uganda, people fear to go look for jobs. Apparently, they say only those with connections to the big people in positions are the ones that get jobs. Some even bribe for job opportunities failing those with qualifications without connections.

There are so many educated people at the moment but jobless because some have applied and failed while others have feared applying.

According to Faridah Nakazibwe, connections do exist and people get jobs through that but it shouldn’t stop one with qualifications from applying. She told the graduates to stop listening to people who tell them that certain jobs are for specific people.

“You see these things of nepotism and connections people talk about? I can’t say they don’t exist… But never let such talk stop you from applying for jobs and putting yourself out there with an assumption that “those jobs are for specific people,” Faridah Nakazibwe.

The soft-spoken news anchor added on that people should not get tired of applying for jobs. She said one person will believe in you and will end up hiring you.

“Go out there and knock on those doors. Apply tirelessly and one day a person or an organization will believe in you and hire you purely off merit. Stop waiting for connections and connect yourself darling.☺️ Have a good day,” she said.
