Marvin Saasi, lawyer to controversial Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Butebi Zaake has confirmed that his client and wife Bridget Namirembe Zaake are out of the country.
Highly placed sources in the National Unity Platform (NUP) where Zaake is one of the supreme leaders in charge of youths revealed that the legislator has travelled to Canada to try his best and convince his wife to come back and take care of his young family which she abandoned in favour of Kyeyo.
“At first Zaake thought that the wife was joking thinking that Barbie (Barbra Itugo Kyagulanyi, wife to Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Bobi Wine the NUP president) was handling the matter until he was informed while he was away from home that his wife had packed everything and has run out of the country,” a source said.
The source added that before Bridget decided to leave the country, she first petitioned Barbie, the most respected lady in NUP to intervene and talk to Zaake whom she was suspecting of practising adultery with other younger beautiful girls within NUP.
Sources divulged that several meetings were held both at Bobi Wine’s home in Magere and at Busabala love beach to reconcile the couple but they did not yield any fruits.
Sources added that Bridget first disassociated herself from NUP activities including helping Barbie in organising NUP functions which bring together many people at their home in Magere.
Barbie was left with the wives of Nubian Li and Joel Ssenyonyi the party spokesperson as helpers in organizing these gatherings.
“We think the enemy might have used on Zaake the tactics used to spoil Moses Bigirwa’s (NUP chief coordinator in charge of Busoga) first marriage.”
“Since this year began, that woman has changed to the extent of not wanting to talk to wives of the colleagues of his husband,” a source said. In September last year, Zaake officially married Bridget who changed her religion from Anglican to Catholic.
Zaake revealed that their relationship started at the university when she acted as his girlfriend even when he was contesting for Ndejje university guild president. The two later decided to have children.
Zaake always praised Bridget for being there for him whenever security battered him sometimes to near death because of his opposition to radicalism.
Efforts to get a comment on the matter from both Zaake and their wife were fruitless as their known phone numbers were not going through.
However, counsel Saasi, a celebrated human rights lawyer rubbished the allegations insisting that there is no misunderstanding between his client and lovely wife.
“That’s not true, honourable Zaake travelled to Canada together with his wife at the same place last week. I’m telling you there is nothing like misunderstanding because if it was there, I would have been the first to know,” Saasi noted.
He explained that his client always travels to America and Canada for a periodic checkup which is done by international doctors to know how he is recovering from the torture trauma he went through when was arrested.
He added that since Zaake’s torture, his life has changed. “He sometimes cannot sleep if there is no music playing or if the lights are off.” He disclosed that doctors want to know whether he can now stop following such conditions.
