Disappointed Opposition MPs Accuse Prime Minister Nabbanjja Of Dishonesty, Lying To Ugandans And Covering Up All NRM Wrong Doings.

The opposition have rejected a Government statement presented by the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, on the persistent abductions and missing persons in the country.

Convening a high-level meeting between the ministers and the opposition this week, Nabbanja only accounted for five missing persons as opposed to the 25 members that the opposition tabled.

Addressing journalists at Parliament on Friday, the shadow defence minister, Jonathan Odur, said the statement was too casual and insensitive, tasking Government to be fair and considerate when dealing with this issue since many families remain aggrieved.

It is from this that Odur accused the prime minister and Government of being dishonest especially by her denials during formal meetings.

Odur said the prime minister took to the corridors of Parliament to confirm that some of the people who she called notorious criminals were in the state’s detention giving an example of John Bosco Kibalama.

The Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, recently brought up the issue of missing NUP supporters and those jailed without trial in Parliament.

Prior, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, was supposed to meet with the opposition – NUP specifically – to discuss the matter and forge a way forward. This however didn’t happen following Tayebwa’s no show on the day of meeting.

Tayebwa apologised to Mpuuga during plenary and promised he would meet with the opposition and find a way of how to resolve on the matter.

I would like to apologise to my brother Mpuuga for not showing on that day. I got sick and couldn’t make it. But now that the issue has come up again, I promise we will meet and find a way forward,” he said during plenary.
